SEHC General Manager Ian McLaren attended a National Housing Affordability Roundtable on Tuesday 25 February 2014 at the RACV City Club, Melbourne.
The roundtable was organised by the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals and sponsored by bankmecu and Common Equity Housing Limited.
A briefing document was prepared for the rountable - Breaking Through the Affordability Ceiling.
The briefing paper refers to rental housing but notes: The major downsides of renting are that renters do not enjoy long term security with tenure at the call of the owner." There is no acknowledgement that in Victoria there are 128 rental housing co-operatives with 2517 properties housing over 6000 people and with a combined turnover of over $15 million.
