A real celebration of Peace and Joy to all with a record attendance over 150 - members and their children.
The third annual members Xmas Party on Sunday 6 December 2015 was a WOW event. Healesville Sanctuary turned on the nice weather and upwards of eighty adults and seventy children enjoyed the truly festive meal, drinks and very welcome icy poles as they spread out over the verdant green lawns under the shade of ferns and gums and through the pavilion.
The young people and parents of the family volunteers painted faces, made decorations, badges and glitter was everywhere lighting up faces, and smiles were all round especially when the golden bell rang with Ho Ho Ho’s and a bespectacled Father Christmas and his “elves” appeared with Santa dressed in sartorial splendour and the shiniest boots I have ever seen.
There were bags upon bags of gifts with the name of each child and young person written on them for the children and their parents and the volunteers. No one was left out.
There were so many audible cries of surprise and wonderment and praise from each child and their parents as the gifts were unwrapped. It was so pleasing to see how happy they were with each child receiving well thought out gifts that educate and entertain and so age and gender appropriate.
The hours of work and preparation from the board and staff and volunteers really saw great results as families mixed, played and renewed friendships and celebrated the true meaning of Christmas with the birth of the Christ Child as God’s gift to all. The members of SouthEast truly are its greatest gift to each other and a wonderful treasure for its future.
