At its 41st meeting today (11 December 2015) in Sydney, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) focussed on reforms to drive economic growth, improve living standards and make our community safer. Leaders welcomed the Prime Minister to his first COAG.
The COAG Communique issued after the meeting noted the importance of affordable housing for Australians on low incomes and agreed that reforms to housing and homelessness services would be taken forward by relevant Ministers in the context of existing work on housing affordability. COAG will receive a report on this work at the end of 2016.
The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) is the peak intergovernmental forum in Australia. The members of COAG are the Prime Minister, State and Territory Premiers and Chief Ministers and the President of the Australian Local Government Association.
