The services provided by SouthEast define its reality as a housing co-op. SouthEast commits to ensuring its long term capacity to continuous improvement of all services.


Members own and control their co-op and this is the essential characteristic of SouthEast. The board represents the members best through its obligation to be representative, accountable and transparent.


SouthEast is committed to the values of cooperation, voluntary membership, democratic control, autonomy & independence, co-op education and cooperation between co-ops.

changetwo17november2014There were many changes at the Annual General Meeting of the SouthEast Housing Co-operative Ltd on the evening of 17 November 2014 at the Dandenong Club, Dandenong. Fifty members were in attendance at the meeting. A major change was leadership with Andrea Lee replacing Shirley Faram as the co-operative's Chairperson. Shirley has been Chairperson of the co-operative since its formation in 2000 - except for a period of one year. Andrea has been the Deputy Chairperson and Secretary of the co-operative. The co-operative has a term limit for its Chairperson and is keen to promote and facilitate succession planning and this year Shirley had reached her term limit. From this year also the co-operative is introducing six year term limits for all directors of the co-operative. Andrea has been a co-operative member since 2001. She was a board member 2005-06 and since 2010. She has a Bachelor of Business Accounting and Managemeny and has worked as an accountant in Business Services for seven years.

Shirley was appointed Chairpersonwhen the SouthEast Housing Co-operative Ltd was formed in 2000. Before the formation of SotheEast, Shirley hoined the Frankston Rental Housing Co-operative in 1986 and subsequently served as Secretary and on different committees. While a member of the Frankston co-operative, she served for four years as secretary of the Frankston Council's Goof Neighbour program and four years as a board member and worker with the Bayside Youth Houding Project.

Amendments to the Services Charter

Another change at the AGM was the number of directors reporting to the meeting - Andrea Lee and Tracey Hall on the Annual Report, Gayle Koubwere on the Services Charter, Greg Nolan on the Member Manual and Tracey Hall on Downsizing. Director Debbie Dioguardi also presented the 25 Year Membership Plaques.

Returning Officer David Griffiths reported that the three retiring directors had been re-elected to the board - Jan Dickson, Debbie Dioguardi and Andrea Lee. He called for nominations for Chairperson and there were two candidates - Andrea Lee and Greg Nolan. Each nomiee spoke briefly to the meeting, there was a secret ballot and Andrea Lee was elected.

Members at the AGM co-operated in a survey on the AGM - 41 (82%) of the 50 members in attendance responded to the survey.
